PETALING JAYA: The alleged efforts to hide the purported royal addendum on former prime minister Najib Razak constitute treason against the sultan of Pahang and the royal institution, says Pahang PAS commissioner Rosli Abdul Jabar.

In a Facebook post today, Rosli called for those responsible for hiding the said order to be brought to court.

“Actions tarnishing the authority of the institution of the Malay rulers cannot be ignored, especially if they involve abuse of power.

“Pahang PAS will continue to defend the sovereignty of the Pahang sultan and ensure that his decrees are respected, and the rights of Malaysians safeguarded,” he said.

On Jan 6, Najib obtained leave to begin judicial review proceedings to compel the government to execute a purported supplementary decree issued by the former king allowing him to serve the remainder of his jail term under house arrest.

His lawyer, Shafee Abdullah, also submitted a letter from the comptroller of the Pahang royal household confirming the existence of the said addendum.

Government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil has denied that the government had hidden the order, maintaining that its response was based on sound legal advice.

“We must follow the advice and views (of the attorney-general) concerning such matters so as not to prejudice court proceedings.

“Honestly, the document was not hidden. But for myself, as the communications minister, I did not see nor hear about the document,” he said.

Home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said his ministry did not receive any addendum or directive allowing Najib to serve the remainder of his sentence under house arrest.

Federal territories minister and Federal Territories Pardons Board member Dr Zaliha Mustafa also denied hiding anything involving the royal addendum.
