Man injured after gunman opens fire on vehicle, barely missing woman in passenger seat in Philadelphia’s Germantown section

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Terrifying moments unfolded in Philadelphia’s Germantown section when a masked gunman opened fire on a man eating in his car, wounding him and just missing a woman in the passenger seat.

Police say the 53-year-old victim was sitting in his vehicle in the 1200 block of East Stafford Street around midnight on Friday when he was shot multiple times. Bullet holes riddled the car on the passenger side.

While bloodied, the driver fled the scene.

He drove to the 7300 block of Germantown Avenue in the nearby Mount Airy neighborhood and called 911.

He is hospitalized and placed in stable condition.

Police say 10 .40 caliber shell casings were recovered from the scene.

Police are working to determine who fired the shots and why.
