21-year-old Danville man facing weapons charges



DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A traffic stop in Danville led to the arrest of a 21-year-old man, after police found an illegal gun in his possession.

Around 9 p.m. on Friday, members of the Danville Police Department Community Housing Unit and Problem Oriented Policing Unit stopped a car with an expired registration plate near Harmon and Townsend Streets in Danville.

Anthony Gouard of Danville was identified as the driver, according to Danville police. Gouard stopped the car, got out and began to walk away. Eventually he was taken into custody and during a police search, officers found an illegal firearm.

Gouard was brought to the Vermilion County Public Safety Building and is facing charges for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful use of a weapon by a convicted felon.
