The death of an inmate at Millhaven Institution, west of Kingston is being investigated.
Just after 8:30 p.m Oct. 29, an inmate was located, with no vital signs, in his cell.
Staff and paramedics at the maximum security prison attempted life-saving measures, but the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Correctional Service of Canada has confirmed the inmate was 23-years old.
The initial investigation has determined that the death was the result of foul play.
The penitentiary squad, under direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, is continuing to investigate the circumstances leading to this death.
