An update has just been provided by Central Region OPP officer K.Schmidt saying that Highway 11 Northbound from Orillia (which has been closed) should re-open by ‘around’ noon today. There will be ‘limited access’ at some entrances however.
“Crews are working hard in the area, there is a significant amounts of snow and ice that has accumulated in that area and they are working hard to make sure the highway is safe before reopening is complete.” said Schmidt in a social media update.
“But I do expect at 12 p.m.we should have northbound Hwy. 11 reopened from West St. ..Southbound lanes will stay closed.”
Officer Schmidt went on to say he expects southbound lanes to be reopened later this afternoon.
