According to Sport, Barcelona are interested in signing Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran, and sporting director Deco has already held initial talks to inform the 21-year-old’s representatives that he’s on their radar. However, no negotiations have started as of yet, with Barcelona only sounding out their options for squad reinforcements for next season, and still in the dark over what happens with the issues surrounding the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, they aren’t willing to make any commitments at this stage.
Duran renewed his contract with Aston Villa in October. With his considerable potential and the fact that he’s committed to the Premier League club until the summer of 2030 in mind, Barcelona believe the price for his services would not be less than €60 or €70 million.
Duran still rarely starts for Unai Emery’s side, but in all competitions, he has so far scored 12 goals in 26 appearances this season, including a 79th-minute winner against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. He also scored in Aston Villa’s Premier League triumph over reigning champions Manchester City.
