Bangkok has been officially recognised as the world’s most visited city in 2024, surpassing tourist hotspots including London and Istanbul, according to a Euromonitor International report.
The Thai capital welcomed an astounding 32.4 million international visitors, reflecting a post-pandemic tourism boom and a growth rate exceeding a whopping 30 per cent.

- Istanbul – 23 million visitors
- London – 21.7 million visitors
- Hong Kong – 20.5 million visitors
- Mecca – 19.3 million visitors
- Antalya – 19.3 million visitors
- Dubai – 18.2 million visitors
- Macau – 18 million visitors
- Paris – 17.4 million visitors
- Kuala Lumpur – 16.5 million visitors
Why is Bangkok so popular?
Thailand’s visa-friendly policies and robust tourism campaigns have played a pivotal role in Bangkok’s success. The city’s unique blend of rich cultural heritage, modern infrastructure, and affordability has made it a favourite among international travellers. The Grand Palace, bustling street markets, and renowned street food continue to captivate visitors from across the globe.
According to the report, by 2030, countries such as the United States, Turkey, and China are projected to experience the highest growth in international arrivals.
