SHELBY COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Shelby County is holding a board meeting on Thursday where they will vote on the appointment of a new coroner and three new board members.
Last month, WCIA reported on the death of former Shelby County Coroner Brad Phegley following a hunting accident. To fill the position, County Board Chair Tad Mayhall has nominated Beth Debolt to be coroner, according to the meeting’s agenda.
Additionally, Mayhall has nominated James Mitchell, Judy Wood and Tricia Miller to fill the vacant board seats. The board is scheduled to vote on their nominations at their meeting. All of the nominees are Republicans.
The three nominated candidates would be replacing board members Lori Nelson, Robert Orman and Mark Bennett who all resigned. The meeting will be held on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Courtroom A at the Shelby County Courthouse.
