CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Days after a tough first loss of the season, Illinois wrestling got back in the win column with a massive in-state win.
No. 10 Illinois hosted Northwestern, winning 33-7 to improve to 7-1 on the year.
The win saw Belleville native Danny Braunagel win by major decision over Aiden Vandenbush in the 174-pound match and Big Ten Champion Edmond Ruth win by his first tech. fall of the year in the 184-pound match.
Illinois will travel to take on No. 2 Iowa on Friday, January 17, broadcast at 6 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.
