All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State says it is embarking on rigorous campaigns ahead of this weekend’s local government election because it is not underrating other parties.
It said it had set up a committee headed by Mr. Charles Fagbunka to oversee and coordinate campaigns across the 18 local governments.
Spokesman Alex Kalejaiye, at a news press briefing ahead of Saturday’s election, said the party had reconciled aggrieved members for the purpose of going into the election as a united family.
He hoped the party would repeat the same victory it secured in last year’s governorship election when it won in the 18 local governments.
Kalejaiye said: “We have given directives to our leaders to meet and mobilise our members to visit churches and markets to canvass for vote.
“We are prepared for the local government elections. Our campaigns are going on in the wards and local governments. We are working and getting set for this exercise.
“We never believe in buying votes. With what we have done and what we are doing, we believe the people will vote for us. We believe in decent campaign. During the governorship election, we campaigned and won in all the local governments. It is the people that will decide who will be their councillors and chairmen. Our preoccupation is to win the poll. Thirteen political parties, according to ODIEC, are participating in the election. We are going to win.
“People voted for performance. We never believe in buying votes. With what we have done for the people, we know they wouldn’t have any problem to vote the APC.
