Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) OPP are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a passenger vehicle and a tractor trailer on Highway 17 in Whitewater Region Township.
Early this morning, OPP and emergency services responded to the two-vehicle collision between Mountain Road and Sutherland Road, where a westbound passenger vehicle crossed into the lane of an eastbound tractor trailer.
As a result of the collision the vehicle caught fire. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the tractor trailer was not seriously injured.
On Monday, morning, a head-on collision between a car and a transport truck on Highway 7 near Tweed also left one person dead.
Central Hastings OPP, along with emergency services, responded to the crash shortly after 10 a.m., near Flinton Road, northeast of Tweed.
Despite life-saving efforts by paramedics, the driver of the car was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the transport did not suffer any serious physical injuries.
The investigation is continuing in both cases.
