Jakucionis's return drives Illinois to major road win

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WCIA) — In his first game in ten days, Kasparas Jakucionis went for 19 points in the first half to lead the Illini to a rivalry road win.

No. 19 Illinois took on former teammate Luke Goode and his Indiana Hoosiers in a midweek road tilt. Jakucionis was responsible for eight of Illinois’s 12 points at the first media timeout, ending the first half with 19 total to lead Indiana 60-32.

The Hoosiers went on a run to open the second half but could not overcome the 20-point-plus deficit. Jakucionis finished with 21 points, running into foul trouble in the second half, with Boswell leading at 22 points.

Tensions flared in the game’s final minutes between Goode and Tomislav Ivisic, resulting in Indiana’s Oumar Ballo being ejected.

The Illini improve to 13-4 and 5-2 in Big Ten play with the 94-69 win. Illinois remains on the road to take on No. 12 Michigan State on Sunday, January 19 at 11 a.m.
