Two injured after crashing into a mountainside near Eden, Utah

EDEN, Utah (ABC4) — Earlier this afternoon, two people were transported to the hospital following a crash on Powder Mountain Road, according to Weber County Sheriff’s Office.

At 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 16, Weber County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to reports of a crash near 5300 North Powder Mountain Road.

According to a release from Lt. Colby Ryan, the driver of a box truck lost control of his vehicle. The truck went off the road and into the right shoulder where it crashed into the mountain.

The driver and passenger were both ejected from the vehicle due to the crash. Weber Fire District responded to the crash and transported them to the hospital to treat their injuries. One was taken by an Intermountain Life Flight medical helicopter, and the other by ambulance.

While crews responded to the scene, Powder Mountain Road was closed for roughly one hour. One lane has opened, but traffic is still slow as responders clear the scene. It could take up to two hours before the other lanes reopen.

Alongside the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, other agencies and even citizens came to the scene.

“We would like to thank all the citizens who stopped to help the patients and to Weber Fire District, LifeFlight and Utah Highway Patrol for assisting in this crash,” Lt. Ryan wrote in the press release.

The crash is still under investigation, and ABC4.com will update this article with further information as it is released.

There is no further information available at this time.
