Hey everyone! You may know me from my last fanfic called The New Girl. If you haven’t read it you should check it out. This is a Demi fanfic and there’s more information in the biography. It’s a bit of a work in progress so feel free to comment or inbox me any questions. I hope you like it.
Charlotte’s POV (past tense)
It was a cold winter afternoon when I began to walk home from school just as I normally did everyday. Except this time, it was different. The frigid Connecticut air almost knocked me over as I stepped off my school bus and started to walk. Since I was a junior in high school, I really hated taking the bus. Although it sucks no matter what grade you’re in, most of my peers had their license or someone to drive them home, whether it was a friend or a parent. This also meant that I was stuck with freshmen and sophmores. My mom worked until about 7 and I never had any close friends whom I could just casually ask for a ride home after school. Sometimes I wished that I had a car, but I knew I would never be able to afford it.
As I stepped off the bus, I could remember someone screaming something rude at me, but I can’t recall exactly what it was. No one else had ever got off at my stop, and I had a long walk home. Perhaps the longest walk home from everyone on that entire bus. What made it worse was that I was always alone.
I longed for friend that I could tell my problems to and do things over the weekend with.
I walked onto the sidewalk and turned the volume up on my headphones. I was playing Really Don’t Care by Demi Lovato which was sort of my anthem at that point in my life. Most people in my school hated me or at least I thought so. Anyway, I was using a phone I shouldn’t have been using.
I was always using too many of my minutes and texts talking to my internet friends and my Mom thought it was a waste of money and dangerous being that I had never met them in real life. She gave me my old “slide” phone most people had in middle school and told me that I would get my phone back in a week. Although it was a bit bratty, I just wanted my Iphon e so that I could listen to music. I knew that she was trying to protect me, but I needed it. School was unbearable without a smartphone or ipod.
I was about halfway to my house when the song changed to something a little to upbeat for what I was feeling. I tried to change the song when suddenly I tripped over a crack in the sidewalk and fell down. I have never experienced a pain that harsh since I broke my arm in 6th grade. I think I may have sprained my ankle, but I guess I’ll never know.
I was laying on the sidewalk for about an hour I suppose. A few cars passed, but I don’t think that they saw me lying on the ground, hysterically crying. I tried to call my mom, but she was at work and couldn’t pick up and I didn’t want to bother the police, so I decided to just wait for her. She was supposed to come home early that night, at around 5. That would have been only an extra 30 minutes.
Before I knew it, a dark black escalade with tinted windows pulled up by the curb. A man, around 30 or maybe a bit older, came out of the car and started to approach me. He was wearing construction boots, old jeans, a black coat and gloves to protect his hands from the cold. He wore sunglasses, but there was no sun to protect his eyes from. He looked like he hadn’t shaved his tan face in days, his hair was messy and grey and he was missing a few teeth.
He sat down on the sidewalk next to me before beginning to speak.
“You ok? You look a little injured,” he asked.
“No. I fell and I don’t know what I did, but my leg really hurts,” I answered quietly.
“Well that’s unfortunate. Let me take you to the hospital,” he replied.
“It’s ok,” I tried to speak before he cut me off.
“No, you need medical attention. What’s your name?”
“Charlotte,” I responded without hesitating.
“Let’s go Charlotte,” he answered and before I could hesitate, he picked me up and placed me in the backseat of his car and shut the door loudly.
I don’t know why I let him take me that easily, but I did have a terrible feeling that I wasn’t going to the hospital.
So that was my first chapter! I know it’s confusing how this has to do with Demi, but you will get it soon. This is basically an introduction to the story and Charlotte (the main character) is telling you about how it happened. I hope you like it so far and hopefully you will continue reading. Don’t forget to comment and vote. Thank you!
