School board wants to hear from parents and students about how to move forward

Hastings and Prince Edward District School board students and families are being asked what they think.

The board is developing a new strategic plan for the next five years and says that they want to hear from the community.

Public insights are ‘an essential part of public consultation about new strategic priorities.’

The board is using an online platform called ThoughtExchange to give people a chance to share their perspectives.

Participants can post on the platform what changes they would like to see in schools, as well as areas to focus on.

After posting at least once, participants are given the opportunity to ‘rate’ other peoples entries on a scale of how much they agree or disagree with them.

All entries are anonymous.

More than 500 people have taken part in the survey, sharing 368 ‘thoughts’.

More than 10, 000 ratings have been shared.

A few thoughts shared so far include a desire to see more supports for students, adequate staffing, outdoor learning and practical learning.

You can check out the thought exchange here.

Students and families have until Jan. 30 to take part.
