SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – Happy Wednesday, Utah! It’s another chilly day here in Utah as a cold, dry northwesterly flow remains in place.
This pattern will continue into Thursday keeping daytime highs running 3-5° below normal. Overnight lows will, once again, drop into the teens along the Wasatch Front and hit single digits in most northern and central valleys.
By Friday, a storm system moves in, bringing snow to northern Utah and southwest Wyoming, which will spread southward by Saturday. Southern Utah could see some light snow, and there’s even a small chance for snow showers in St. George.
Snowfall amounts are still uncertain, but right now the storm looks to favor the southern mountains of the state, and the latest guidance is bringing in slightly higher snow totals for that region than previously forecast.
Winds could also become a factor along the Wasatch Front and Cache Valley, with easterly canyon and downslope winds possible as early as Saturday. This depends on the track of the low-pressure system, so it could still go either way.
Overall, expect snow, colder temperatures, and some windy conditions over the weekend, but there’s still a lot of uncertainty about how it’ll all play out. Stay tuned!
