This 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS was completed in May 1972 and delivered new to Canada, where it is noted to have been used as a display car at the January 1973 Montreal International Auto Show before being sold to the first owner later in the year. Originally finished in Marrone Metallizzato, chassis 03882 is said to have undergone a color change to red before being repainted in its current Giallo Fly finish and was brought to the US under previous ownership. The car features Scaglietti-built bodywork incorporating a removable roof panel and rides on 14″ Cromodora five-lug alloy wheels. Inside, fixed-back seats trimmed in black vinyl are accompanied by a MOMO steering wheel, a Blaupunkt radio, and power windows. Power is provided by a mid-mounted 2.4L V6 equipped with triple Weber carburetors, while shifting is through a dogleg five-speed manual gearbox. Following time in Oklahoma, the car was acquired by the selling dealer in 2024 and serviced prior to running the 2024 Tejas Turismo vintage driving tour in December. Work under current ownership has involved overhauling the carburetors, fuel system, and disc brakes in addition to replacing the water pump, radiator, steering rack, and Koni shocks. Now showing 24k miles, this E-series 246 is offered by the selling dealer in Texas with a Marcel Massini Report, recent service records, and a clean Oklahoma title listing the car as a 1973 model.

With bodywork designed by Aldo Brovarone and Leonardo Fioravanti at Pininfarina, the prototype 206 GT first appeared at the 1965 Paris Auto Salon and was followed by revised concepts at the 1966 and 1967 Turin Motor Shows. The 2.0L 206 entered production in early 1968 and was later superseded by the 2.4L 246, which was offered in GT coupe and GTS targa-top variants beginning in 1969 and 1971, respectively. This GTS example is one of approximately 2,900 E-series cars produced between September 1971 and July 1974.

The Scaglietti-built bodywork left the factory finished in Marrone Metallizzato and is said to have undergone a color change to red before being repainted in its current color of Giallo Fly under previous ownership. The car features US-market lighting including recessed rectangular front turn signals, side markers, and rear reflectors inboard of the taillights. Additional details include a removable roof panel, a single driver-side mirror, a power antenna, and chrome bumperettes.

The 14″ Cromodora five-lug alloy wheels wear Dino-branded center caps and are mounted with 205/70 Michelin XWX tires. A matching spare wheel is stored in the front trunk. The suspension incorporates unequal-length A-arms, Koni coilover shock absorbers, and anti-roll bars at the front and rear. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted ventilated disc brakes all around. Work in 2024 involved replacing the steering rack and shocks as well as rebuilding the brake master cylinder and calipers.

The cabin houses fixed-back bucket seats that have been re-trimmed in black vinyl. Color-coordinated upholstery covers the door panels and console, while the dash wears gray “mouse-fur” trim. Additional features include a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, a heater, power windows, and headrests mounted to the seatbacks.

The leather-trimmed MOMO steering wheel features a Dino horn button and is paired with a dogleg-pattern gated shifter. Dino-branded Veglia Borletti instrumentation includes a tachometer with a 7,750-rpm redline accompanied by a 170-mph speedometer, an analog clock, and auxiliary gauges for oil temperature, coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 24k miles, approximately 1k of which have been added under current ownership.

The mid-mounted 2.4-liter Tipo 135CS V6 features a 65° angle between cylinder banks, dual overhead camshafts on each bank, Magneti Marelli ignition, and a trio of two-barrel Weber carburetors. Service in 2024 included overhauling the carburetors and fuel system in addition to replacing the water pump, thermostat, radiator, and electric fan switch. The spark plugs were replaced and the engine bay was detailed following completion of the 2024 Tejas Turismo vintage driving tour in December. Compression test readouts are viewable in the gallery.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. Work in 2024 is said to have involved servicing the clutch assembly and installing a replacement cable.
