EOWC says it advanced regional priorities during ROMA conference

The Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus says it made significant strides in advancing regional priorities during the recent Rural Ontario Municipal Association Conference.

The EOWC is a group of eleven eastern Ontario counties and two single-tier municipalities, working in conjunction with the provincial and federal governments to promote the region.

During the conference in Toronto, the caucus says it discussed priorities including strengthening relations between Canada and the United States.

The EOWC says, in light of the potential impact of the 25% tariffs on eastern Ontario exports threatened by U.S. President Donald Trump, they are actively gathering data on how this would affect local communities, businesses, and jobs.

They say they have sent letters to the New York Association of Counties and the Great Lakes and the St.Lawrence Cities Initiative to extend their allyship and reinforce their commitment to collaborate towards the betterment of people in both Canada and the United States.
