He knows what’s at stake on Sunday in the NFC championship game against the Washington Commanders.

Not only is a trip to the Super Bowl on the line, but in all likelihood, it will be Slay’s last home game as an Eagle.

NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Ashlyn Sullivan spoke to Slay about his future, and has reported that the Eagles cornerback has seen the writing on the wall.

“Darius Slay is preparing for Sunday to be his last home game at Lincoln Financial field,” Sullivan posted on X.

“Slay told me this week after having conversations with his family, he is 85% leaning towards playing one more season, but understands it most likely won’t be with the Eagles.

“When I asked him about the emotion of playing his last home game this weekend, he said he isn’t allowing himself to get caught up in the future.

“Slay confirms he will definitely not play more than 13 seasons in the NFL and looks forward to watching Eagles games from a box… not in the snow… in the near future.”

Slay has been with the Eagles for the last five seasons, making the Pro Bowl in three of them.

He has been everything the Eagles had hoped for when they traded for him from the Detroit Lions in March of 2020.

Now it’s all culminating in one final run in the Kelly green.

Unfinished business awaits Slay and the Eagles.

Two years ago, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs took down the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII.

Now they are one win away from going back to the sport’s grandest stage, with a potential rematch in the works, if the Chiefs beat the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night.

First things first, Slay and the Philadelphia defense will need to find a way to slow down Jayden Daniels and Washington’s explosive offense.

Few have had answers for the rookie.

Including the Eagles themselves, when Daniels threw five touchdown passes on them late in the regular season to steal a win.

There will be fireworks on the field on Sunday, that’s a guarantee.

And for Slay, he’s hoping his career with the Eagles ends with green and white confetti falling on him in New Orleans.

While a nice cozy box awaits Slay in the future, now is not that time.
