Police Still Looking For Bank Robber Who Opened Fire, Stole $31K: Cops

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Authorities are still searching for a man accused of opening fire on a bank teller and then stealing about $31,000 from a Chase Bank in Lake Forest Thursday afternoon.

As of Saturday afternoon, investigators are still looking for the robber and have collected some articles of clothing from an area that will be analyzed as potential evidence, Orange County Sheriff’s Sgt. Frank Gonzalez s CBS News.

Police say a male suspect armed with a handgun went into the Chase Bank off Portola Parkway and Bake Parkway at about noon on Thursday and walked up to a bank teller, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. He reached over the counter and fired a round from the gun toward the feet of the bank teller.

The round did not hit the bank teller, and no one was injured. The suspect fled the bank with around $31,000 in cash before deputies could get to the scene, police said.

Authorities found several items on a trail near the bank that were collected and will be processed, according to authorities.

The suspect is described as being a male who is between 5-feet, 6-inches and 5-feet, 10-inches tall with thin build. He was last seen wearing a bucket style hat, black mask, yellow-hooded sweatshirt, tan pants, gloves and was holding a silver revolver style handgun.
