Beloved Maple Shade School District staff member fatally struck by school bus

MAPLE SHADE, N.J. (WPVI) — A beloved staff member of the Maple Shade School District community was struck and killed by a school bus on Tuesday.

It happened around 3:30 p.m. in a bus garage at Maple Shade High School.

“It is with a heavy heart that I share some very sad news with you. One of our beloved staff members has tragically passed away in an accident in our bus garage,” the school district said in a statement.

The victim has not yet been identified, but police say the incident appears to be an accident.

The district says the school will be closed on Wednesday for students.

“This will allow our school community to process this loss and support one another. We understand that such news can be profoundly upsetting and we are committed to providing the support needed during this time,” the district statement continued.

Further details on the crash have not yet been released.

Burlington County Crisis Response Team and counselors will be available for staff and students.
