SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A northern Utah man was arrested on Monday after he allegedly sent child sex abuse material (also known as child pornography) via the mobile app Kik.
Ned Brady Hansen, 54, was arrested on eight counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, each a second-degree felony. According to arrest documents, there were “eight separate instances of the content being shared” by Hansen’s Kik account in November 2024.
In November 2024, the service provider Kik filed a CyberTipline with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding the explicit files, and the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force with the Utah Attorney General’s Office began an investigation into Hansen’s account.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed in Box Elder County, investigators determined that the email account associated with Hansen’s Kik account was also connected to a home construction and renovation business owned by Brady H.
Further investigation and a warrant served on Google returned the name of the email account holder as Brady Hansen, in addition to a phone number assigned to Ned Brady Hansen. Investigators also determined the IP address provided in the NCMEC report was used to sign into Hansen’s Kik account and his email account.
Investigators issued a warrant to the internet service provider and found Hansen’s home address. Detectives with the Brigham City Police Department executed a search warrant at Hansen’s home on the morning of Jan. 27, 2025.
Hansen was the only person in the home at the time of his arrest. He was booked into the Box Elder County Jail on the aforementioned charges.
Charges are allegations only. All arrested persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
