PETALING JAYA: A 25-year-old man was fined a total of RM7,500 at the Seremban magistrates’ court after pleading guilty to outraging the modesty of a woman and possessing obscene videos.
Azrul Afiq Ahmad pleaded guilty to the charges read before magistrate Nurul Saqinah Rosli, Sinar Harian reported.
Azrul, who sells perfume, was fined RM4,000 for groping the buttock of the 21-year-old victim in a convenience store at an R&R stop near Nilai.
He fled to the toilet where he was nabbed. Authorities subsequently discovered three pornographic videos on his phone.
Azrul was fined RM3,500 for possession of the videos.
His lawyer, Ng Yunn Yiing, had sought a lower fine on grounds that he was getting married on Feb 25. Ng also said that Azrul provided financial support for his parents and three siblings, and did not hold a permanent job.
“The offence was unintentional and the accused has repented,” Ng was quoted as saying.
