DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — The president of Danville Area Community College is stepping down. Thursday night’s board meeting decided the fate of Stephen Nacco.
He will resign and retire from his position. Officials said he will remain in the role in a limited capacity until the end of the semester. This means Nacco will serve with the acting president two days a week until December 13th. It was all part of a six-page resignation agreement between Nacco and the college.
“It’s been stressful for everyone, you know,” said Carl Bridges, Acting President. “But I think we’ve walked through it with our heads up and doing what we need to do to make sure that we keep the institution in mind. So I think everyone has just taken their responsibility very seriously. And, you know, the goal was to make a decision that was best for the institution. And I know the board feels that what was decided was the best decision.”
The agreement also said Nacco will receive 20 weeks pay, adding up to around $75,000.
