SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — On Tuesday night, just before 9 p.m., officers from several agencies saw a car that was reported stolen — and the driver ultimately led officials on a chase and crashed the car.
Officials with the West Valley City Police Department said the occupants of the stolen vehicle stopped the car and got out around 1100 W 500 N in Salt Lake.
When officers approached, the occupants reportedly fled on foot before the driver got back in the car. Police said no officers pursued the suspect after the driver got back into the car and fled the scene.
The driver later crashed with another vehicle around 900 W 300 N. Officials said the suspect and the person in the other vehicle were said to be stable after the crash.
The suspect vehicle was initially monitored from above with the help of a helicopter from the Department of Public Safety, as well as unmarked police vehicles.
There is no further information at this time.
