Man arrested, charged in October shooting involving police in Saratoga Springs



SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah (ABC4) — A man has been arrested and charged in connection to an October shooting that involved police in Saratoga Springs.

Fernando Valenzuela-Limon also known as Santiago Rodarte Jr. was formally charged last Friday in Utah County on the following charges:

  • Failure to respond to officer’s signal to stop
  • False personal information to peace officer

According to charging documents, the suspect was stopped by police near Redwood Road and Harvest Hills Blvd. Police said that he was not cooperative during the stop. At the time of the stop, police said that he did not have an ID on him and gave a name that the officer could not locate.

The officer with Lehi Police received information that he was a suspect in other investigations and was known to carry firearms. The officer got out of his car and commanded the suspect to show his hands, it was at this time the suspect sped off and shots were fired. It is still not known who fired the shots.

The suspect took off down Harvest Hill Blvd. and onto Redwood Road. While fleeing from police, the vehicle was driven into a canal, the suspect attempted to flee on foot. A woman was in the car with him and she was detained for questioning. Valenzuela-Limon was caught and taken into custody for unknown injuries and transported to an area hospital to be treated.

Valenzuela-Limon was arrested and booked on the prior charges.

Charges are allegations only. All arrested persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
