Teen Rantoul entrepreneur looking to jump-start coffee business

RANTOUL, Ill. (WCIA) — A 16-year-old entrepreneur from Rantoul is making his dreams come true in the coffee business.

Carson Lykins set up his own coffee booth, and said this is just the beginning. Lykins was first introduced to coffee when he was 14 years old. He said he went into a shop with his older brother and has been obsessed ever since.

However, starting the business hasn’t been the easiest to brew up.

“Learning how to start up your own business, all the licensing and all that and ups and downs. And it’s about once you hit a roadblock, you have to find the way to get over that hump,” Lykins said. “And at first I didn’t realize that until I’ve had a couple bumps in the road in business, like all businesses. And to be successful, you have to go over those humps.”

Lykins said his next goal is to buy a truck to deliver his coffee. Ultimately, he wants to own a cafe with a gym attached, combining his two passions.
