SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Friday, Utah! Our Black Friday will feature mostly sunny skies. After a frigid start with temperatures, highs will only warm into the 40s across northern Utah, and mid-50s across SW Utah.
So, what’s the bottom line? Cold, with plenty of sunshine for Black Friday.
Below-normal temperatures and ample sunshine are expected to continue with high pressure in place. This cool stretch of weather and the northwest flow will keep valleys from locking into strong inversions, for now.
A ridge will start building over the Western States next week, bringing more calm weather and more haze, especially in valleys. Temperatures will likely stay a bit below normal, except for non-valley areas, which could warm up some.
Long-range models aren’t showing any storms that will break down the ridge for a while. On the bright side, limited snowpack in most valleys should keep inversions from getting too bad. But brace for a quieter, hazier stretch as the cold weather settles in.
