Google, the America-based multinational corporation, is said to be releasing a couple of new features to its Google Pixel smartphones. These features are to include many additions, including updates to Gemini. However, these developments shall only be restricted to English or US users. The company is also said to be adding functionality to the Pixel Watch 2 and Pixel Tablet.
Expansion of Gemini for English-Speaking Google Pixel Users
Google, in its blog post The Keyword, mentioned that Gemini is being expanded for English-speaking Pixel users. Using the ‘Saved Info’ feature, the AI assistant can remember interests and preferences, which should provide more appropriate answers to questions. In addition, Gemini can perform more tasks on the phone. This includes calling people, sending messages, setting an alarm, and taking a selfie. Google says it will add support for more apps in the coming weeks, such as the previously announced Spotify integration in Gemini.
AI-Powered Call Answering Features
Furthermore, Google is adding to its AI capabilities in the area of call answering. Pixel 4 devices or later will be able to ask callers the reason for the call, which will then be presented to the user as text. Based on this, they can choose to accept or decline the call. The Pixel 9 line will also gain the ability to respond with an AI-generated response of their choosing. These features are also limited to English-speaking users in the US.
December Pixel Drop Features for Other Regions
The December Drop of Pixel shall include features coming to other regions. The Pixel 9 series, for example, will be able to capture and share Ultra HDR photos directly to Instagram, while the Pixel 6 and later will make it easier to send images via Snapchat. The same selection of phones will get the “Simple View” feature, which increases the font size and touch sensitivity to make it easier to use. Those phones, as well as the Pixel Tablet, will also be able to get hands-on with emoji mashups via Gboard.
Pixel Tablet and Pixel Watch 2: Updates
The Blog Post also included updates regarding the Pixel Tablet and the Pixel Watch 2. The former can now get started with Google VPN. That service was previously only available for Pixel phones. The Pixel Watch 2 gets the ability to forward images from certain Nest Cam or Nest Doorbell devices when someone is at the door.
