URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — People in Urbana got an opportunity to hear from one of the candidates running for mayor Thursday night.
Deshawn Williams held an open forum about his candidacy for mayor at Vineyard Church. Williams shared his campaign objectives and plans for the city. Topics discussed included public safety, education, economic development and more.
Williams said the event helps him directly communicate with the community he’s looking to serve.
“Tonight was just one of those opportunities for folks to be able to come in and meet me and ask the questions that they had been yearning to ask over the last couple of years,” he said. “You know, we’ve been campaigning. I announced my candidacy December 15, 2022. So, I mean, it’s been a full two years of us out and about in the community. So this is just an opportunity for folks to really get to ask those deep questions.”
Williams will face off against Annie Feldmeier Adams on February 25th in the primary election.
