Manchester City vs Manchester United Ultimate Bet Builder
Rasmus Hojlund to score anytime
Manchester City’s defensive struggles show no sign of ending, with the champions conceding 23 goals across their last 10 matches. That poor run leaves them vulnerable to Rasmus Hojlund, who is becoming crucial to United’s fortunes.
The Dane’s best run for the Red Devils came between December and January last season and he has scored five times in his last four. A brace in just 35 minutes against Viktoria Plzen on Thursday should ensure a starting spot on Sunday for the forward, so back him to extend his good run.
Bruno Fernandes 1+ shot on target
City’s defensive issues should also offer Bruno Fernandes a chance to make an impact. Amorim has pushed the midfielder into the front three, playing just off the central striker. At times he is the Red Devils’ most advanced player, which should get him into better attacking positions.
The early signs suggest the switch is paying off, with the Portuguese having three efforts on target across his last two games. Back Fernandes to have another shot on target at the Etihad, as the hosts have a lightweight midfield which should struggle to deal with him.
Bernardo Silva to be carded
City’s midfield issues have led to them sharing the defensive burden among the trio, rather than instilling a direct replacement for Rodri. That is causing problems for Bernardo Silva, who has been carded in three of his last six City appearances.
The Portuguese also made two fouls in the defeat to Liverpool, so this test could expose him. Amorim is set to flood the midfield against City and if Silva and co. are outnumbered, on current form he could easily end up in the book. At 3/1, he’s a great option to be carded.
Matheus Nunes to make 2+ fouls
Nunes is playing out wide for City and the Portuguese doesn’t look very comfortable in this setup. Not only is his end product suffering, he also leads the side in terms of fouls committed, despite limited minutes.
Nunes is up against wing-back Amad Diallo, who has drawn 10 fouls this season. Guardiola seems to be emphasising that the team take on more defensive responsibility to try and stem their issues, which could likely translate into more fouls for Nunes.
