Boil Order issued in Villa Grove after water main break

VILLA GROVE, Ill. (WCIA) — A water main break has caused part of Villa Grove to be placed under a boil order on Wednesday.

At 10:25 a.m., Illinois American Water notified its customers of the boil order for a portion of the north end of Villa Grove. Their crews are making emergency repairs at the main break location.

The location of those affected by the order is near the intersection of N Sycamore St. and County Road 1550 N. The full affected area can be seen on American Water’s website. Those who reside in the area may experience a service interruption or low water pressure.

Repairs were initially expected to take approximately 4-6 hours, but an update at 8:21 p.m. now says the estimated end time will be at 5 p.m. on Dec. 20. American Water will notify its customers when this boil order has been lifted.

Any water to be used for drinking or cooking should be brought to a rolling boil for five minutes. However, the water is fine to use for bathing, laundry and other common uses.

American Water is asking landlords to inform their tenants so that they are aware of the impact to their water service. For additional information, call them at 800-422-2782.
