Every February, Black History Month celebrates the achievements, contributions and struggles of Black people throughout history. The Black History Month 2025 theme, “African Americans and Labor,” focuses on the impact of work on the experience of Black people. That work ranges from the past agricultural labor of enslaved Africans to today’s Black professionals providing leadership as corporate executives and entrepreneurs.
During the month, organizations can also focus on the barriers Black workers continue to face and develop ways to help eliminate them. Although the actions of government and elected officials helped pave the way, success in providing Black employees a fair and level playing field still requires commitment and action by private business leaders.
In this Black History Month 2025 Cultural Connection Toolkit, we explore issues around the Black experience in the corporate workplace. Additionally, we provide ideas on how to boost inclusion. We also provide examples of companies that have emerged as leaders in this important area.
