PAXTON, Ill. (WCIA) — An old-school arcade that people of all ages can enjoy held its grand opening on Thursday, Dec. 26.
WCIA’s partners at the Ford County Chronicle reported that Hudz Family Fun Zone in Paxton kicked off its opening at 10 a.m. with a ribbon cutting. The business was scheduled to be open from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on Thursday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday.
On New Year’s Eve, the Hudz Family Fun Zone will be open from 4 p.m. to midnight for their New Year’s Eve party.
The arcade is home to around 20 retro arcade games as well as pinball, air hockey, billiards, skee-ball, a basketball shooting game, cornhole, mini putt-putt golf and ping-pong. There is also a space for kids under 7 to play, complete with a padded floor and jungle gym.
Admission is $15 for those over 6 years of age, but it covers unlimited gameplay from open to close. For seniors, kids 6 and under, and guardians who are not playing any games, admission costs $5.
Local pharmacist Andy Hudson owns the new business. Malcolm Howard is a part-time manager. Both told the Ford County Chronicle that they hope visitors from all around Central Illinois come to enjoy the new space.
“We’re hoping that this will encourage people — once we get out-of-towners here — to not just stay here all day but to shop downtown or go to lunch downtown and that type of thing, too,” Hudson said.
Hudz is located at 137 N. Market St. After Jan. 1, the business’ regular hours begin. As of Dec. 26, Hudz is scheduled to be closed Mondays and Tuesdays and open from 3-7 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 3-8 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sundays.
