MURRAY, Utah (ABC4) — A man was arrested late Christmas Day after allegedly pointing a firearm at his roommate and then stealing from them.
According to court documents, David Katterman, 40, allegedly punched the reported victim in the side of the head during an argument. Afterwards, Katterman pulled a chambered 9mm pistol on the victim during the reported dispute.
Within the probable cause statement, it states the Murray Police Department (MPD) arrived on scene in the area of 5400 South and Redwood, where they found a damaged ceramic pot at the door of the residence in question. The began their investigation and according to MPD, all those involved were roommates that lived at the residence in question.
Upon making contact with the victim, it was reported that Katterman allegedly had stolen a Rolex watch reportedly valued at $1,600, and “a small bag of gems” of an unknown value. A picture was provided to police by the victim, and both items were allegedly later found on Katterman during a search, along with the 9mm handgun within his pocket.
Katterman has been booked into Salt Lake County Jail on a no bail bond, and is facing seven charges of aggravated assault, assault, domestic violence in the presence of a child, operating a vehicle without a license, property damage, and theft of value between $1500-$4999.
According to MPD, this is still an open investigation, and further details are limited.
