Festive RIDE program: More than 100 impaired driving charges in eastern Ontario

One hundred and three motorists have been charged with impaired driving in the East Region of the province since the Festive RIDE Program began.

OPP in eastern Ontario arrested another 20 impaired drivers during the fifth week of the campaign, which started Nov. 21.

“The OPP encourages everyone to celebrate the arrival of 2025 safely,” said Chief Superintendent Lisa Wilhelm, OPP East Region Commander.

“Make plans in advance to get home, such as having a designated driver, taking a taxi or ride-share or public transit. Impaired driving can instantly change a celebration into a tragedy.” –

Officers have conducted more than 1,100 Festive RIDE programs across eastern Ontario.

OPP also issued 29 warning-range suspensions, resulting in licence suspensions and vehicle impoundment.
