DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — A man was pronounced dead on the scene after being struck by a vehicle in Decatur Friday night.
At approximately 10:50 p.m., Decatur Police Officers were dispatched to the 600-700 block of South Side Drive for the report of a personal injury accident. Investigation revealed that a Chevy Equinox was heading eastbound in the right lane.
According to Lieutenant Jon D. Quehl, a pedestrian was in the roadway and the Chevy struck them. The driver was a 64-year-old male from Decatur and did not sustain any injuries.
The pedestrian was a 48-year-old male from Decatur and was pronounced dead on the scene. There were no indications that the driver was under the influence in any way.
On scene, members of the Fatal Accident Investigation Team responded and are still investigating the crash. No further information is available at this time.
