Cowboys Cheerleader Pelted With Ball During Kickoff Against Commanders

In the Dallas Cowboys final game of the 2024 NFL season against the Washington Commanders, a Cowboys cheerleader was hit in the back of the head when Dallas scored their second field goal of the game.

A cameraman tried to deflect the errant ball but was unsuccessful in his attempt.

Fortunately, the cheerleader in question seemed to be alright afterward, smiling and telling others that she was fine.

In 2024, the Cowboys’ cheerleaders were part of a Netflix documentary series called “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders” that followed the unit from auditions through the 2023 NFL season.

The docuseries proved to be incredibly popular, debuting second on Netflix behind season three of “Bridgerton” with 687 million minutes in its first full week.

While the Dallas’ cheerleaders continue to be a highlight of the NFL, the same can’t be said for the football team they represent.

The Cowboys have had a difficult season. In the first half of the season, the team started with a 3-4 record. In Week 9, star quarterback Dak Prescott left the game early with a hamstring injury. Later, it was determined that he would be out for the rest of the season due to surgery.

This essentially marked the beginning of the end for Dallas. The team would go on to have a 7-9 record before their Week 18 game against Washington, eliminating them from the playoffs.

This would be the first time that the Cowboys haven’t made the postseason since 2020 when they had a 6-10 record.

“Nobody plans to lose,” Prescott said, per Nick Eatman of DallasCowboys.com. “Nobody plans to have a losing season, to be in this position. You expect the playoffs every year. You expect to win the division and then to be in this place or whether it’s at home, playing against this team usually for the division. That’s not the case. Yeah it’s frustrating.”

Prescott then gave credit to head coach Mike McCarthy for how he has handled the season.

“It’s tough to get your job done and do your job with all that hanging over your head,” Prescott said. “But credit to him, credit to his professionalism and really his coaching style of being able to get guys ready to play and go out there and finish and take pride in what we finish and what we put on tape.”
