Recently, Pete Lau, Chief Product Officer at Oppo, hinted at the launch of the Oppo Find N5, labeling it the “thinnest folding flagship in the world.” He even shared an image of the device cleverly concealed behind a pencil to emphasize its sleek design. Just days later, Finnish tipster Teme released images that showcased the device in greater detail, further highlighting its slim profile.
The three images below illustrate the Oppo Find N5’s potential to claim the title of the slimmest folding flagship phone available. One photo specifically reveals the camera arrangement. As noted by the leaker, “Oppo Find N5’s thin design and camera setup are intriguing. OnePlus has yet to confirm if this will also be branded as the [OnePlus] Open 2.”
Prior to Pete Lau’s teaser, which indicated a release date in February, we heard rumors that the OnePlus Open 2 would also be the “thinnest foldable ever.” Could it be that the Oppo Find N5 and the OnePlus Open 2 are identical devices tailored for different markets? Both brands were part of the now-defunct BBK Electronics conglomerate, which led to a merger that integrated certain aspects of both companies in 2021.
The Oppo Find N5/OnePlus Open 2 is expected to sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, IPX8 water resistance, and potentially a 6,000mAh battery. Wireless charging capabilities are also rumored. While both phones may differ in their camera systems, the Oppo Find N5 is anticipated to have a dual-camera setup on its rear, while the OnePlus Open 2 might feature a 50MP telephoto lens as part of a triple-camera configuration. To claim the title of the world’s slimmest big-screen folding phone, the Find N5 must surpass the current leader, the Honor Magic V3.
