SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – Happy Monday, Utah! Clear skies and cold temperatures to kick off Monday in northern Utah while we’ll continue to see a chance of moisture along southern Utah today.
Bottom Line?! Southern Utah flirts with snow while haze begins to build in northern valleys
A low-pressure system that has been southwest of the state will begin moving east, bringing snow to Arizona, with southern Utah on the outskirts of the storm system. A few flakes are expected to show up in lower Washington County and other border areas Tuesday morning, but no significant snowfall is expected.
The southern mountains might pick up two to four inches, but overall, it’s still a dry system for southern Utah. Isolated rain/snow showers will remain possible into Monday afternoon with temperatures five to 10 degrees below normal.
Looking ahead, the low will slowly move east by midweek, keeping southern Utah at risk for scattered showers through Tuesday. By Thursday, drier northerly flow takes over, with temperatures gradually warming. Northern Utah will see ridging, bringing dry weather and a gradual warm-up, but haze will likely build up in valleys.
By Friday, the ridge strengthens, with temperatures about five to 10 degrees above normal. The weekend forecast is uncertain. Some models hint that there’s a chance for a storm system, but details like timing, strength, and snow amounts are still up in the air.
